»Japanese Lesson« by Katja Stuke & Oliver Sieber will be part of the exhibition »Photobook Phenomenon« from Mar 17 – Aug 27 2017 at the CCCB in Barcelona. Curated by: Martin Parr, Gerry Badger, Markus Schaden & Frederic Lezmi, Horacio Fernández, Ryuichi Kaneko, Erik Kessels, Irene de Mendoza and Moritz Neumüller.
In addition, it will feature various contemporary artists who have contributed a genuine vision to the medium and who present in the exhibition a selection of the creative processes involved in producing a photobook: Laia Abril, Julián Barón, Alejandro Cartagena, Jana Romanova, Vivianne Sassen, Thomas Sauvin, and Katja Stuke & Oliver Sieber.

Curated by Diane Dufour, Elio Grazioli and Walter Guadagnini there will be exhibitions with works by Alain Bublex, Sebastian Stumpf, Antonio Rovaldi, Gulnara Kasmalieva & Muratbek Djumaliev, Kent Klich, Bettina Lockemann, Maanantai Collective, Paolo Pellegrin, Walker Evans, Luca Santese, Pasquale Bove, Gabriele Basilico, Saverio Cantoni and many more.

Photographie, commissariat, design, édition, collaboration avec d’autres artistes, le duo de Düsseldorf ne cesse, au fil de ses productions, d’interroger les formes et pratiques photographiques documentaires. Lors de cette discussion, ils reviendront sur ses dernières productions, Fax from the Library, Nationalfeiertag, Imaginary Club by Oliver Sieber (prix du meilleur livre Paris Photo — Aperture Foundation 2014), qui se jouent d’associations et d’éclipses du récit. La discussion sera animée par Karin Krijgsman, professeur à l’école de photographie AKV | St. Joost aux Pays-Bas, directrice de la maison d’édition Fw:Books, basée à Amsterdam. La projection performative et la discussion sera précédée d’une signature de Nationalfeiertag par Katja Stuke.
