We will show »Chongqing Express«: Since 2014 almost 60 trains per week from several destinations in China arriving in Duisburg. »Chongqing Express« deals with the Road and Belt Project, the connections between China and Europe and how it effects the Ruhr Area (and other areas in Europe) and the people living there.

In Sept 2021 the virtual space »Tokyo Happy« deals with Ariake in Tokyo, on of the sites of the Olympic Games. In the virtual space you can see various chapters from the »Japanese Lesson«, different images taken in Ariake in 2017 and again in Google Street View in 2021; also some videos from Second Life and Google Street View, wandering through the different streets of Ariake.

To conclude the exhibition project The Things I Tell You Will Not Be Wrong by Scope Hannover – Biennale for Photography and Media Art 2020/21, the Biennale team invites you to a critical discussion. The panel discussion will analyse the possibilities and limits of online art production with the Biennale artists and other guests. The panel discussion will be held in German and English.
ANT!FOTO Bar: 12 – 6 pm The ANT!FOTO Bar, a project by the artists Katja Stuke and Oliver Sieber, will take place at the same time. Originally a monthly meeting in Düsseldorf, it is moving to Hanover as an event for the Biennale. The ANT!FOTO Bar is a place for discussion and exchange about contemporary and historical photography, with a focus on photobooks, a meeting place inspired by small Japanese Bars.

La Ville Lumière s’inscrit dans un ensemble d’oeuvres créées depuis 2005 par Oliver Sieber et Katja Stuke. À Paris, au Japon, ou dans certaines villes d’Allemagne, par leurs marches silencieuses, les artistes cartographient et posent leur regard sur des zones urbaines sensiblessoumises à des modifications urbaines et sociales profondes : construction d’un village olympique, fermeture d’usine, gentrification forcée… Dans une course effrénée vers le futur et l’illusion d’un progrès animé par les mêmes forces bien visibles de la globalisation et du libéralisme sauvage. Le 8 décembre 2018, en résidence à Paris, ils sont confrontés aux premiers « actes » du mouvement des gilets jaunes. À distance, sans prendre parti, mais sans pour autant rester indifférents, ils observent comment ce conflit s’inscrit dans le récit de la ville. Cette marche de 113 photographies les guide de la rue de Rivoli au Louvre, de la Madeleine à la gare Saint-Lazare, du boulevard Haussmann à la place de la République et ne dépeint rien de moins, rien de plus que six heures de manifestation -un acte – d’un drame social.

May 23 – 28, 2021 Working in Katernberg, Essen Since 2017, Katja Stuke and Oliver Sieber have been working on a „Cartographie dynamique“, a constantly growing network of places and themes. The „Cartographie dynamique“ is based on a specific method of walking, where details then become recognisable and which leads to the understanding of connections with other places with which the artists have already come into contact or which only emerge from this process. It’s a process of a constantly expanding network between Japan, China, Paris and the Ruhrarea until now.
